Disabilities & Diagnoses Served in EAS

Presentations in this section of The Intuitive Instructor club will help equip you with essential skills to create safe, effective, and life-changing equestrian experiences for students with differing physical, cognitive, and emotional abilities.

Each presentation, delivered by experienced and professional instructors, looks at each diagnosis through the “lens” of an adaptive/therapeutic riding instructor and addresses:

  • The definition of the diagnosis
  • What instructors might see when teaching a student with this diagnosis in a barn or arena setting
  • Precautions & contraindications as they relate to the diagnosis and adaptive/therapeutic riding
  • Teaching considerations and techniques as they relate to the diagnosis
  • Equipment selection as they relate to the diagnosis
  • Horse selection as they relate to the diagnosis
  • Volunteer training and support as it relates to the diagnosis
  • Bonus final thoughts and tips

All of the information presented has really made me think about all of the students at our organization and exactly what types of diagnoses they have and how our OT’s adapt the lessons for these kiddos.
